Hakuin
Hakuin was a wonderfully gifted artist, monk, poet, and humorist. Abbot of a large monastery in Japan’s Edo period.

“At ths very moment, what can be sought?
Nirvana is immediate.
This place is the lotus land
This body is the buddha body.”
As Hakuin said later, nothing else need be said. The scrolls, the scriptures, learning, are for those uninterested in the reality pointed to by these words.
